Who is considered a transfer?

In order to be classified and receive scholarships as a transfer student, you must have at least 12 transferable hours of academic credit. If you have less than 12 hours, your classes will still transfer in, but you will receive freshman scholarships based on your ACT/SAT score. 

How high does my GPA have to be in order to be accepted?

A cumulative GPA of 2.0 is required for admission to Mississippi College. The higher your GPA the more scholarship money you can accumulate. To receive academic scholarships you must maintain a 2.5 GPA. To receive stackable scholarships you must maintain a 2.0 GPA.

How many hours can I transfer into MC?

The maximum number of hours that can be transferred to Mississippi College from a community college is 65 hours. Credits taken at a senior level institution can be applied in addition to this. 

What about my grades from another institution?

Grades earned on transfer work from another college or university will be reflected on the permanent record at MC, but they will not be used in calculating the overall GPA at MC. ±«Óătvconsiders transfer credits earned at other institutions when: 

  • They are earned at colleges or universities with regional accreditation.
  • They are comparable courses to those offered at ±«Óătvas determined by the ±«ÓătvRegistrar.
  • The student has earned a grade of C or higher.

Our Registrar's Office has the final word on official transfer equivalencies and evaluations.

If I transfer, how many hours must I take at MC?

The last 33 semester hours must be taken at MC. A minimum of 12 semester hours must be taken at ±«Óătvin your major field and at least 6 hours in your minor.

What is the Admissions process like?

Our admissions process is easy! All you have to do is follow the steps listed below. Your Admissions Counselor will be there along the way to help you out with any questions that you may have. 

  1. Complete the online application
  2. Submit official transcripts from any university or college previously attended.
  3. Fax, email, or mail in your MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) Immunization Certificate. One MMR in the past ten years or two in a lifetime is required.
  4. Pay the $200 Housing Fee if seeking campus housing.

Does ±«Óătvhave a Phi Theta Kappa chapter?

Yes we do! We have one of the largest and most prestigious Phi Theta Kappa Alumni chapters in the state. Community college students who have earned membership into Phi Theta Kappa may receive the largest transfer scholarship packages - $12,500 per year for on-campus students, and 10,000 per year for off-campus students. Phi Theta Kappa students also have the opportunity to participate in our Transfer Scholarship Competition

The Transfer Scholarship Competition is an opportunity for transfer students who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and exemplary character. Students with a cumulative 3.0 GPA are invited to participate in the competition.
