  • Possess empathy for others, an appreciation for diversity, and an interest in social change

  • Use active listening and social perceptiveness skills needed to evaluate, assess and treat behavioral and affective disorders of patients/clients
  • Possess thorough knowledge of human behavior and performance as well as knowledge of principles, methods and procedures for diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions

Develop your resume:

  • Volunteer at hospitals, soup kitchens, battered women homes, literacy programs, or other social service agencies to gain experience
  • Join the Association of Student Social Workers or the Sociology Club
  • Become an active member of Phi Alpha Honor Society and Pi Gamma Mu Honor Society
