Mathematics Education

Professional education courses supplement the coursework in math, giving students skills for the classroom and leading to teaching certification in Math for Grades 7-12.

Earn a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education from Mississippi College

Develop the math and professional education foundations necessary to earn teaching certification and pass your love of math on to others.

Students who are working toward secondary education licensure will teach at middle schools and high schools. With more varied experience, our graduates are well-prepared and highly competitive for available positions in the classroom. ±«Óătvgraduates in the math education track have a 100% passage on the Praxis teacher certification exams and are highly sought after by school district administrators. And, because the degree is structured as a mathematics degree, graduates are also desirable job candidates in other fields as well.

Math teachers-in-training get field experience in classrooms throughout Rankin, Hinds, and Madison counties. Math students can also gain professional experience through internships; our students have interned at Waterways Experiment Station and the Department of Environmental Quality.
