Develop the writing, speaking, technical, and critical thinking skills professional communication requires.

Preparing Mississippi College students to be successful communicators with their words, skills, and lives.

At MC, passionate and experienced professors equip students to effectively communicate both in and out of the classroom. Students will dive deep into the foundations of communication theory and develop practical skills through extensive application. 

The Department of Communication offers the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Bachelor of Science (B.S.) undergraduate degrees. The B.A. degree requires an twelve hours of foreign languages, while the B.S. requires an additional twelve hours of electives. Students take a set of core Communication courses and also choose one of the program concentrations listed below. Additionally, the Department of Communication offers Minors in Communications and Journalism.

What You’ll Do

±«Óătvcommunication students engage in fascinating discussions and connect with the community through internships and other hands-on opportunities to prepare them for various careers. Some of these internships include media companies, government and non-profit agencies, public relations firms, and journalistic organizations.

Departmental activities include working with , our student-run media group, in reporting on campus and community events, producing the weekly campus news program MCTV, regular podcasts including The Collegian Weekly, and producing live Choctaws sports broadcasts on the air and behind the scenes.  Students can also be involved with campus and community theater productions, join pre-professional organizations such as the ±«Óătvchapter of the Public Relations Association of Mississippi, and be a part of our team of Messengers who help promote the department and recruit new students.
