U.S. Army JAG Corps Attorney, Louisiana District Court Extern Join ±«ÓătvSchool of Law Faculty
A pair of young lawyers with a wide range of legal experience - one as an attorney in the Judge Advocate General Corps and a recent extern with the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana – have joined the Mississippi College School of Law faculty.
F. Lee Francis, who addressed matters of military justice and administrative law for the U.S. Army at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and Milton J. Hernandez IV, who clerked for the Hon. Brian A. Jackson in Baton Rouge, fortify an impressive cadre of legal instructors, according to Dr. John Anderson, ±«ÓătvLaw dean.
“Prof. Francis is one of three faculty members at ±«ÓătvLaw with Army JAG experience,” Anderson said. “His research focuses on firearms law and he serves as the director of the law school’s Center for Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution.
“±«ÓătvLaw is the only law school outside of the State of Louisiana that offers a civil law certificate program. Prof. Hernandez’s vast experience and scholarly credentials will greatly enhance the reputation of this successful program.”
After obtaining his B.S. with a social science, political science, and humanities concentration from Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina, and his M.A. in rhetoric and composition from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Francis earned his J.D. at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York. A research fellow at the CAAFlog Military Forum in Hempstead, he joined the JAG Corps in 2021. He is the author of four articles in refereed journals, one book chapter, and two book reviews.
Hernandez earned his B.A. in political science cum laude at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and his J.D. magna cum laude at the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at LSU, where he was inducted into the Order of the Coif and received the Ginger Berrigan Community Service Award, the National Appellate Advocacy Competition Top Ten Oralist Award, and the LSU Law Robert Lee Tullis Moot Court Competition Top Brief Award, among other honors. He served as a judicial law clerk and attorney advisor in the Department of Justice, Attorney General Honors Program, Executive Office for Immigration Review, Office of the Director in Falls Church, Virginia; was a staff attorney for the Orleans Public Defenders in New Orleans.
