Prospective students can discover what college life is all about during MCâs Preview Day Oct. 12
While searching for a college home, Brinley Sullivan made sure to highlight the dates of her favorite universities’ Preview Days on her calendar.
“As a potential student, Preview Day was one of my favorite parts of the process,” Sullivan said. “I tried to attend as many as possible, just for the chance to be on a college campus. They were always informative, full of energy, and so very fun.”
Sullivan’s ±«ÓătvPreview Day experience solidified her decision to attend Mississippi College, where the University’s standard of academic excellence and commitment to the cause of Christ offered an ideal match. Now, the junior kinesiology/pre-physical therapy major from Kimberly, Alabama, is serving as a Scout during MC’s fall Preview Day, helping high school students discover why the Clinton campus may be the right place for them, too.
“I am looking forward to giving tours and meeting new students to show them around campus,” she said. “Being a friendly face to potential students is such an honor and a joy.”
Prospective students will have an opportunity to learn what life is really like at ±«Óătvduring Preview Day, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 12. They’ll attend informational panels, tour the campus and MC’s state-of-the-art cadaver lab, see the impressive Gore Arts Complex, and experience ”Game Day Saturday” on the Quad, complete with a tailgate lunch and football game.
Carly Fisher, coordinator of guest experience in ±«ÓătvAdmissions, said Preview Day allows prospective students to ask questions, mingle with ±«Óătvstudents, and get a feel for what it’s like to be a Choctaw.
“Preview Day is the biggest on-campus recruiting event that the Office of Admissions hosts each year,” Fisher said. “We make sure the prospective students and their families receive plenty of information, have an opportunity to tour the campus, and get a first-hand look at what it’s like to be a student at this University that we love.”
±«Óătvstudents like Carson Hughes, a senior English and history major serving as event planner for Preview Day, enjoy getting to introduce future Choctaws to their favorite college.
“The appeal for newcomers is meeting and getting to know all of these super-cool ±«Óătvstudents and realizing how they could fit in with them,” the Vestavia Hills, Alabama native said. “Preview Day allows the ±«Óătvcommunity to put its best qualities on full display. In turn, prospective students get a taste of what it is like to attend the University.
“Both sides benefit, and in the end, ±«Óătvattracts tons of smart, talented, thoughtful young people who get to attend a quality school in an encouraging environment that prepares them well for life after college.”
Those unable to attend Preview Day on Saturday will have another opportunity on Tuesday, Nov. 12. For more information about Preview Day at MC, visit mc.edu/admissions/undergraduate/events/on-campus/preview-day.
