Mississippi College is the only private university in the state of Mississippi to appear on the list of the top 500 universities in the country.

“I am thrilled that the Wall Street Journal has recognized Mississippi College as one of America’s Best Colleges for 2025,” said Michael J. Highfield, ±«Óătvprovost and executive vice president. “At MC, we strive to provide students with a learning environment that not only challenges them intellectually, but also nurtures their personal and spiritual growth.

“This distinction underscores the exceptional educational programs we offer, rooted in both academic excellence and a commitment to Christian values, and it highlights the dedication of our faculty, staff, and students.”

The Wall Street Journal’s ranking focuses on student outcomes. The listing includes performance indicators that help parents, students, and families determine which colleges and universities offer the best overall academic experiences.

“This recognition by the Wall Street Journal affirms that our mission is resonating nationally, and we are honored to be counted among the nation’s top academic institutions,” added Highfield.

The rankings are based on data from several sources, including the National Center for Education Statistics’ federal Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System, the U.S. Department of Education’s College Scorecard, the Bureau of Economic Analysis, and the Elsevier bibliometric dataset, among others.
